Three of the hot new toys of the season- Wet Head, Stik Studio, and IDO3D Pen

Christmas is totally my FAVORITE time of year- not just because of family and the holiday season, which is a huge part of it, but also because I get to review awesome new toys that hit the market before anyone else does!

Among the toys I got to play with… Er, I mean that my KIDS got to play with, are these little gems- the Wet Head game, the Stikbot Studio Pro, and the IDO3D Vertical drawing pen. So we took them for a test drive to see what they were like, and had a ton of fun! So, see- TOTALLY my favorite time of the year!

Wet Head board game from ZING is a really fun game of water roulette: fill the helmet up with water, strap it on your head, and give it a spin. The player and fellow game-compatriots play with an included spinner, or you can download free questions for the Wet head Challenge from their app and use the trivia version for even more fun. I like that you can play this two different ways, and honestly this was a ridiculous amount of fun waiting for the jig to be up and to be hit with the water. None of us could keep a straight face! My teenager pulled the winning stick and when the water started coming down he tried to pull the hat off which of course was strapped to his head.

Stikbot Studio from ZING was a really interesting set that make me think- my kids too! The game consists of a green screen and figures you can use to create a stop-motion movie. There is an accessory pack available as well which supplies additional figures and themed clip-on accessories for the movies, which allows for more character creation and cool new props. We all really enjoyed this one, but I’d say it’s for school-aged kids and up, due to the patience required to plot out a stop motion movie. It’s still a very simple process, so it’s not too taxing by any means. My 6 year old got a little frustrated but he ended up really liking it.

IDO3D Vertical is a 3D pen set from IDO3D which is a fun way to make little 3D creations- almost like a free-form, hand-held 3D printer. It’s very clever- it doesn’t use heat to melt the material, instead using a cool to the touch ink that reacts instantly to a built-in LED light which hardens it into whatever shape you draw. We all had fun testing this one out, and it was almost like a lesson in building, to see what shapes would remain structurally sound and which would fall apart under pressure. I thought it was fun and educational as well! We did not get to play with it as much as I wanted to because my 3 year old would constantly want to squish the things so we decided it was bed time.

All three games are easy on the wallet and are available at most major stores nationwide- or you can find them on AMAZON – ZING and IDO3D!

They get two 3D, stop motion, and hilariously damp thumbs up from all of us!

  1. These look like a lot of fun for kids. All 3 would make great gifts for Christmas. The grand kids would love Wet Head.

  2. I think my niece would love the Stikbot Studio! She created her own stop-animation (is that the right word) movie short using her iPad.
