The Long Story Short of a Great Father #WriteGift

This post is sponsored by CROSS Pens. All opinions are my own.

I am blessed to have both of my parents still alive and together. I am incredibly blessed that they are hugely active parts of my life and my children’s lives. I always tell people that if they think I am dorky they should see where I got it from. My dad and my mom are both huge nerds. They instilled a love of reading and all things geek. My mom stayed home with us while we were little and my father worked long, crippling hours doing construction. When I was a baby he used to walk miles to work at 4 am in the cold to go to work, work all day long, and then have to walk back home after all that back breaking work. So when CROSS Pens offered me a chance to work with them on telling “The Long Story Short”, I knew I wanted to talk about my dad. I got his name engraved on a lovely pen from CROSS.

Its engraved with his name but he is so much more than Bob.

Bob. Its a simple name. My dad is actually Robert like most Bobs but I have very rarely ever heard anyone call him that. He is Bobby to old friends and Bob to everyone who knows him. Daddy to five girls. Pawpaw to more than a dozen grandchildren and now he is a great-grandfather as well. Friend, husband, son, brother, uncle, and so much more.

CROSS has always championed the pursuit of greatness. From the spark that inspires a passion, to the hard work and creativity needed to make it happen. It takes courage and a lot of heart, but those who take this path are the ones who make their mark on this world. I like that. My dad is someone who has made his mark on the world. He went back to school with my mom when they were 40 and they got a couple degrees in computer. Now he works in compliance. From 4 am manual labor to a nice office with air conditioning and a company car. That is something that he made happen because he is someone that does that. He just keeps working.

CROSS was established in 1846 and to this day, receiving a CROSS fine writing instrument is a symbol of achievement, accomplishments, and human potential, all while being a luxury fine writing instrument. CROSS seeks to provide those possessing extraordinary vision and a strong entrepreneurial spirit with the tools needed to make their mark. CROSS will always continue to be the #WriteGift for recognizing the deserving moments in anyone’s life from a job promotion, to marriage, to graduation… Who is deserving in your life?
