Because I Love My Cats – Adam’s Flea and Tick Prevention Review

I think everyone has gotten the picture that I love my cats. Cats are a part of my life. If the family dorms hadn’t been being renovated, I would probably be a vet now. But that is a story for another day. I have two demon cat children, Elliott and Gambit. They are both inside cats since we moved a few years ago but Gambit really misses outside. He escapes every chance he gets. Now that Spring is here, I am really worried about him because Spring is when the fleas and ticks come out and we are very serious around here about flea and tick prevention.  I don’t want him to get them when he runs out (and trust me it only takes a minute for them to jump on) and then spread them to Elliott. That is why I try to use the best to prevent them both from being eaten up by the nasty critters. I was sent Adam’s Flea and Tick Spot On for Cats to try out on one of my cats. I went and bought another application for my other cat. I doubly like it because of the SmartShield Applicator.

The Adams™ Smart Shield™ Applicator is a breakthrough topical flea and tick control delivery device that provides fast, effective treatment down to pets’ skin, where bugs live, and helps keep the mess off your hands. The Adams™ Smart Shield™ Applicator delivers a more confident, secure and easy application of Adams™ Flea & Tick Spot On® topical treatment, which starts killing fleas and ticks in 15 minutes and helps prevent re-infestation in your home. Designed with veterinarians’ and pet owners’ input, this ground-breaking new product is the first of its kind.

In the past when I have tried to put it on them, they wiggle and squirm and I am never sure how much I am getting directly on their skin. I didn’t even have to worry about getting the medicine on myself. Now if I can apply medicine to two squirming cats with a toddler running underfoot, thats a feat and I was able to do it with this cool applicator! Open the plastic applicator, insert one of the medicated foils, snap close the applicator and then apply directly to your cat’s skin. The applicator breaks the tip off the medicine when you snap it closed.  Then you follow the package’s directions and apply the medication where directed by simply pressing the circular portion on the top of the applicator.  Easy, even measured amounts of medicine are then distributed. Here is a picture demonstrating how easy it is to use this!

Just putting on flea treatment sometimes isn’t enough though. Adam’s shared some tips for animal parents to prevent fleas and ticks this summer:
1.  Don’t give fleas and ticks a welcoming environment.
2. Mow regularly
3. Keep shrubs trimmed and rake up leaves.
4. Keep the garbage covered so it won’t attract rodents  (remember thats how fleas and ticks can catch a ride to your house)
5. You can spray your yard to kill adult fleas and ticks. Outdoor sprays can be used on lawns, flowers, trees and shrubs. They kill and repel fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, ants, crickets and other insects. Spray wherever your pet frequents the most which in my case is right in front of the stairs so no one can go down or up. Allow it to dry before letting pets or people onto the treated area.

Take care of your pet and your family by having the right prevention and treatment options for your furry family member. Now why wouldn’t I want the best for this beautiful creature who lays on clean laundry?
