Walking The Red Carpet for the Queen of Katwe Premiere #QueenofKatweEvent

One of the coolest experiences I had while being in Los Angeles for the #QueenofKatweEvent was getting to walk the red carpet for the movie premiere. This is my second red carpet with Disney. Last year I got to walk the Cinderella red carpet which was a dream. This year I was on my own for makeup and hair so I was a little nervous. I think I did well though. You should also check out my review of the Queen of Katwe movie!

Queen of Katwe” is based on the vibrant true story of a young girl from the streets of Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and opens in U.S. theaters in limited release on September 23 expanding wide September 30, 2016. It is a lovely movie and I recommend everyone to go see it immediately! We got to meet the stars of the movie earlier in the day of the premiere so it was cool to be able to wave at them and several of the younger stars recognized us! Or they seemed to. They all looked fantastic at the premiere.

The carpet was a dark shade of red this time and it was a lot smaller than the Cinderella one. It was cooler though because smaller means we got to bump elbows with more people! I love red carpets because everyone is soooo dressed up and the dresses and outfits are so wonderful. I got my dress at Torrid. Some of the bloggers I was with had theirs made for them. I loved all them. Everyone looked amazing.

After we finished watching the movie, we all walked across the street to the Hard Rock Cafe for the Queen of Katwe after party. I had never been to an after party before so I was nervous but excited! It was also quite packed and smelled so amazing. They had food on the bottom floor and it looked so good. I have to admit that I didnt eat any. I was nervous and wearing spanx. Enough said. We got over there around 9ish and walked around until almost 11. The only famous person selfie I got was with Josh Peck. Everyone else I saw was mobbed so I just left them alone. I managed to catch him as he was walking out the door.

About 30 minute before we left I saw everyone gathering where the food had been on the bottom floor. So I walked down to find that the stars of the Queen of Katwe movie were having a dance off right there! I stayed on the edges but I danced right in my spot with them.

Lupita Nyong’o even joined them for a bit. She looked amazing. I was dancing inches from her. But she did have bodyguards so I was right beside him. Some of the bloggers I was with got in the circle and got to dance with the kids and Mira Nair who directed the movie!

I am happy to have been a part of something so lovely. I hope everyone takes time to go see this amazing Disney movie. It will have a limited release on September 23 expanding wide September 30, 2016. It will make you cry and open your heart.
