Outdoor Activities with Kids

With the summer season fast approaching, finding something for our kids to do becomes a very high priority. Even more importantly, we find ourselves wanting to get out there and join them. Here are some excellent outdoor activities that you can do with your kids:

Good old fashioned hide and seek

If you are lost for an idea with plenty of room to run around, few things are better than a good game of hide and seek. Be sure to come up with a specific area so that the game does not get out of hand.

Take a hike youngster

Exploring nature is a sure-fire way to hold their attention. Make it a bit of a treasure hunt if you like by hunting down a specific animal, rock or plant.

Make a movie

If you simply can’t pry your kid away from the video games or computers, then join them for a video making adventure. Team up together and make a feature length movie. All you need is a video camera and the great outdoors.

Squirt guns are simple

Summer demands some cooling off time, so why not combine the two ideas? Fill up a squirt gun and have at it. Kids will love it and you might just have a ball as well. Or you can have a water balloon, squirt gun battle!

Hop on that bike

We may be in a technologically advanced society, but the bike is still among the greatest inventions of all time. Climb on a bike and take that road trip that your kid has always wanted. Going around the block is like going across country for most kids.

These are only a few of the great outdoor activities that you can enjoy with your kid. The keys are to have fun, get some exercise and challenge their minds in some way.
