Music of One Tree Hill Season Eight

One Tree Hill Season 8 had an amazingly creative idea for the opening credits. This time around they were bringing back Gavin DeGraw’s ‘I Dont Want to Be’ as the theme song but throughout the season they would feature other artists singing it. They featured people such as Aimee Mann, Patrick Stump of “Fall Out Boy,” “Tegan & Sara,” Matthew Ryan, Laura Izibor, and Kate Voegele. I am going to have to say that I love the original version but if I had to choose between the others, I would say that Tegan & Sara would win. It was such a cute cover of it that I just loved it.

Normally, I am not into covers because when I like a song, its usually because of everything about it. Not just the words or the music, its the whole package and that is usually robbed from when people cover. I will say that two of my favorite songs are covers though and because I heard the cover version first, I like it better than the original. I won’t say which ones because my husband reads my blog and he is a music snob and he will make fun of me.

If I could pick anyone else to sing the theme song, I would probably pick an indie band or artist. I think that Lana Del Rey would make it beautiful and The Black Keys would make it interesting. If you could choose someone else to cover it, who would you choose?

Don’t forget that Season 9 will Premiere on Wed. Jan 11, 2012 at 8/7c on The CW! You can watch a promotional trailer here http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xn46ny or at the bottom of this post! If you missed any episodes of Season 8, you can catch up and buy it on DVD or Ultraviolet!
