Serving up Rachael Ray’s Nutrish for Cats and Garlic Chicken with Fried Brown Rice

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Nutrish for Cats. I received a sample of Nutrish for Cats to facilitate this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating. #NutrishforCats

It is no secret that I am a cat lady. I know some people find that term offensive but honestly I am proud of it.  I have always loved cats. When I was a baby and barely able to talk, I would call all animals like a kitty cat.  ‘Here ki ki, here ki ki’ and I would hold my hands out to them.  Even horses.  They were all cats to me. Now that I am an adult, I still prefer cats and have a ton in my life.  My passion is my kitty cats and I want to have the best healthy cat food for them.  We were given the challenge to try out Dinner for Two with Racheal Ray’s Nutrish for Cats. I made chicken with fried brown rice (full recipe here) for me and Gipsy had some delicious Chicken Purrcata. If you have never heard of the Nutrish cat food, check it out and see if they sell it in your area by clicking on their location map.

I think that it is safe to say that Gipsy enjoyed his meal.  He was very impressed with the Chicken Purrcata.  He was also very appreciative of the cat nip toy that they sent us for him to play with.  Cat nip is a high commodity around here because of there being so many cats so he made sure to scent mark the heck out of it and drool all over it.

He also tried to bite through the dry food bag.  Gipsy is not used to being told no.  He was licking the other wet food containers because he is a fatty at heart.  He steals all the treats.  Look at him with his tongue sticking out! He takes the best pictures.

Rachael Ray’s Nutrish for Cats is a healthy cat food that contains real meat as the main ingredient like chicken and salmon. Each flavor is a wholesome recipe with a great taste cats will instinctively love.  Mine certainly did. I don’t feed my children foods high in preservatives or fats so why would I feed my furbabies something like that? I want them to be healthy and just as perfectly aloof & as they were when I rescued them.  Nutrish is available in dry formulas and wet formulas with fun flavors like Chicken Purrcata, Ocean Fish-alicious and Lip Smackin’ Sardine & Mackerel.  You can find them in your local grocery store.

When you purchase Nutrish pet food you are helping pets in need. With the purchase of the Rachael Ray Nutrish foods, you will be helping to support Rachael’s Rescue, which has already raised more than $6 million to help animals.  Not only is Nutrish a healthy cat food that cats love (is that not enough?) you can also get a great coupon right now.

Garlic Chicken with Fried Brown Rice

I was sent some brown rice and some awesome Rachael Ray recipes to try out.  While I love Rachael Ray (she is beyond awesome and I am utterly jealous of her hair), I decided to try out some fried brown rice.  I rarely use white rice at home but I had never tried fried brown rice.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided

1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed  (I actually used the canned kind because I am lazy)

8 ounces boneless, skinless chicken breast

1/2 red bell pepper

1/2 C green onion

3 cloves garlic, minced  (I always use the garlic powder, sorry to all the chefs out there)

3 cups cooked brown rice

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

Directions:

1. Prepare brown rice by following directions according to the package (I usually boil mine for 20 min)

2. Chop chicken into small sized pieces

2.  Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.  Add chicken, bell pepper, onion, and garlic.

3. Stir chicken and veggies until the chicken is cooked all the way through.  It may take 5-8 min.  Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.

4. Add 1 tbsp of oil to the skillet and turn the skillet up to medium-high heat.  Slowly add the brown rice.  Add soy sauce and rice vinegar to the skillet.

5. Stir in the peas and carrots.  Cook for 3-5 minutes.

6. Add the chicken back to the skillet and heat for 3 minutes.

I was pretending to eat his food.  He was actually trying to eat mine.

  1. I have one cat that we adopted in May, he’s all black and his name is Rigby. I would love to try the natural wet food for him because he’s teething and has a hard time with crunchy foods lately. I think he’d love the Tuna Purrfection the best.

  2. We have 3 cats….. Remus, Charlie and Archer. They would probably like the chicken dry food the best, and I think they would love any of the wet food…. no picky eaters here!

  3. I have several barn kitties and 3 little orphans that I took in and bottle fed from about 1 week of age. Now, they are little carnivores so I’m sure they would like any flavor! (:
