Second Nature (Forces of Nature Book 2)
I posted a while back about a super awesome book, Natural Selection and how agonizing it was to wait for the second book in the series to come out. Well, the wait is over and I have finally gotten to read Second Nature by Elizabeth Sharp! It was well worth the wait. I never like to give anything away in my book reviews and I am not sure who has read the first book or not so I will just say that in the last few chapters of the first book a ton of sad, emotional, exciting, action-filled things happen. So you can see why I was on my seat waiting to read the first page of Second Nature. Elizabeth Sharp puts so much into her characters that you are really in the story and feel real emotion as events unfold.
Blurb from Second Nature:
Amelia Hoffman always knew she would be with Nathaniel Peplow forever, but after they bonded everything started to go wrong. Nate treats her like the enemy, her siblings are in danger, and an old threat grows closer. As Nate pulls away and Amelia’s burgeoning friendship with a handsome stranger blossoms, she worries she made the biggest mistake of her life. If sorting out her love life wasn’t enough, a new drug emerges that not only threatens the ones she loves, but seems to be part of something larger than she could ever imagine. Amelia’s new and old friends must work together to not only save themselves, but the whole world.
So we find out in the first book that Amelia and Nathaniel are gaia and they become bonded (sorry if you haven’t read it but you can get that from the blurb). Her brother is a powerful djinn (as powerful as he can be since he is quite young) and her sister is a succubus. That was one of the things I loved about the first book because usually djinn’s and succubi are portrayed as being so evil and her siblings may have some moments but they still give their everything to protect her and love her. We meet some exciting new characters in this book even a new love interest for Amelia in the form of a hot Angel. I love how Elizabeth Sharp adds so many supernatural characters with ease and doesn’t make them beyond belief powerful. In my opinion, lots of power takes years to grow so without the use of some powerful instruments (hint, hint maybe for book #3) they shouldn’t have amazing powers yet.
My opinion? Well worth the read for both books. I recommend getting on Amazon or Smashwords right now and buying the first book and entering the amazing world Elizabeth Sharp has created!
