The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
I am sure by now you have seen my interview posts for the #AntManEvent. If not here they all are:
Michael Douglas “Hank Pym” Interview
Paul Rudd “Ant-Man/Scott Lang” and Evangeline Lilly “Hope van Dyne” Interview
The “Antourage” Interview with Michael Pena, T.I. and David Dashmalchian
Corey Stoll “Darren Cross/Yellowjacket” Interview
So now that you are up to speed, here is why I think Ant-Man needs to be seen TODAY! First off, Michael Douglas is amazing as Hank Pym. I have been waiting and waiting for him to be introduced in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and now he is finally here! I absolutely loved the flashbacks to the original Ant-Man and Wasp in the movie. I was beyond excited that the scene is set for more Michael Douglas because Hank Pym is a huge part of the Marvel world so even though I don’t know that he will be in more movies, I am pretty sure he will be.
Spoiler:
He doesn’t die. He told us in the interview that he thought he died on page 70. It was funny because he was laughing thinking he honestly died. He can’t die because I am sure he is going to set the stage for more amazing things to come which I will tell you about soon.
Secondly, Paul Rudd as a superhero? Yes please! My sides hurt from laughing during the movie. I loved it. I loved the family atmosphere of the movie. There is so much love and emotion running through this film. There is the relationship between Scott and his daughter, there is the relationship between Hank and Hope and there is also the relationship between Hank and Darren and Hank and Scott. Some of the emotion isnt great but it is there and you can definitely feel it.
Michael Douglas said Corey Stoll was surprising to work with and he was in awe that Corey Stoll brought such emotion to his character Darren Cross. I could see such disappointment on his face when he finally realizes that he will never be able to please his mentor Hank Pym. He is like a puppy in the movie trying to show off his successes but Hank just sees that Darren will never be the same kind of man he is. It is sad. I love it when villains have true emotions. You could see it in his eyes the exact moment he changed.
Spoiler:
I am sure by now you have seen the clip with the Falcon in it. Really people who leak stuff? Why can’t you leave anything to surprise? I was pleasantly surprised to see him but I love him (Anthony Mackie is awesome and so cute!). I like how it was just out of nowhere when he shows up and is his usual dry, sarcastic self.
Seriously Evangeline Lilly, can you get any prettier? AMAZING performance from her as Hope van Dyne. She was cold and unapproachable. She stole the show in any scene she was in. See above for my interview with her because you need to see what she says about women and superheroes. Lots of girl power and hitting Paul Rudd in the face. She didnt really get to hit him but I still like to think she did. I will update with a spoiler soon!
Oh my goodness the Antourage was so funny. I love Michael Pena. He is so funny. I had no idea that he would interact so well with the other guys. He did though and he rocked it. They had every scene with them with everyone waiting to laugh even more.
So if that is not enough reasons to see the movie then I guess I lost you somewhere in the beginning but seriously!!! Come on! Go see it in theaters TODAY! Go see it tomorrow. Do not let your friends see it without you. It is so kid friendly so bring the whole family!
I was wondering what the lower age limit for kids should be.
I really enjoyed this review. I can’t wait to watch this movie.
This sounds like a really fun movie. I’d love to take my boys.
My grand kids loved the movies and anything Marvel
This is the first Marvel movie that I have wanted to see in a very long time.
