I was given the opportunity to try out the Perfect Bar– it’s a new protein bar that is so fresh it has to be refrigerated! I was really eager to give them a shot, so when they arrived in their box, still cold thanks to the packaging and ice pack that they shipped it with, I didn’t waste any time popping one open and trying it out. They sent one of every flavor- Fruit and Nut, Cranberry Crunch, Almond Coconut (Vegan!!!), Almond Butter (both a regular size and a 100 calorie mini bar), Peanut Butter (both a regular size and a 100 calorie mini bar), Carob Chip, and Almond Acai. Before I get into how they taste, I wanted to share what sets these bars apart from other, shelf-stable protein bars:
They contain more than 20 organic super foods- things like kale, alfalfa, spinach and celery, although you’d never know it from the taste!
They are sweetened exclusively from honey- no table sugar at all.
No preservatives or chemical fillers, ever!
They are also OU Kosher certified, Oregon Tilth certified organic, Gluten free, Soy free use exclusively NON GMO ingredients, and are Paleo Friendly.
So now that the technical stuff is out of the way, I can get on with how they taste. I was initially a little concerned, because it listed kale and other vegetables as ingredients, and as much as I love vegetables I wasn’t sure how I would feel about having them in a sweet energy bar. So I opened the one I thought would be the best- the Peanut Butter mini. And it was really good! I was surprised at how much I liked them- it was very flavorful, and almost like a treat instead of a protein bar. They are MUCH better than any of the soy-based protein bars I’ve had in the past.

I tried all of them over the period of a week, and to my surprise, the Cranberry Crunch was far and away my favorite of all of them. The Almond Butter ran a close second- it tasted like really fresh, sweetened almond butter and I could easily see this becoming a quick breakfast for me as I run out the door in the mornings. The Mini Bars are perfect for a quick, sweet snack and at only 100 calories they’d be easy to fit into any weight loss regimen.
I was really impressed with the bars, as were the rest of my family- my husband sampled a few and really liked the Peanut Butter, and my daughter liked the Almond Coconut. They are definitely superior to many of the protein bars I’ve tried in the past, and I do like very much that they are preservative free. I think the only drawback for me is the other side of that coin- because they are so fresh, they do require refrigeration if you’re going to store them more than a couple of days. But you can’t have the really good stuff without making an effort, and I applaud the makers of Perfect Bar for really putting themselves out there to make a fresh product without preservatives.
