Must Love Shoes Book Review

I recently had the chance to review Must Love Shoes by Julie Gaver. It was probably the funniest book I have read in a long time. I really enjoyed it. It had the feel of being like a diary or blog that was published for all the world to see. I love people who can air their dirty laundry (quite literally in this book) and Julie Gaver does it with extreme style and flair. This book is a collection of short stories and life lessons from the author’s life.

For me, it was impossible to read this book in one sitting even though its a reasonably short book. Every chapter I read, I would have to put down the book and make my husband come in the sitting room with me so that I could tell him why I was laughing so hard. Once, I even called my mom up just to read out a section of the book to her. I believe my mom has ‘Who’s yer Daddy’ syndrome as well so I wanted her to know she wasn’t alone in the world.

I really wish this book was longer. I found myself trying to go slower towards the end to savor it longer. It’s more than just good stories, I found myself identifying with some of the situations and characters. Can they be called characters if they are from real life? Hmm, something to think on there. It is amazing to me how more people cannot find the humor in their lives. Something funny, albeit embarrassing, happens to me almost everyday especially since I had children. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to laugh and anyone who knows that the funniest jokes are the ones you tell at your own expense.

You can find out more about Must Love Shoes and the upcoming second book on the website MustLoveShoestheBook.com, Facebook, and Twitter. You can also buy Must Love Shoes on the website for just $14.95. It would be perfect for your next book club. I guarantee you will be the life of the party once everyone starts sharing their own similar experiences to the ones in the book.
