Mom’s Night In with NickMom

I have been a stay at home mom for 6 months now.  Or well 6 months and one week because I was put on bed rest. I am about to tear my skin off.  I hardly ever get to go anywhere anymore. Moriah hates to ride in the car. I don’t get to do my Birmingham Mommy events because she screams the whole way there.  So I was so ready for a Mom’s Night In.  My husband is always willing to watch the kids but with Moriah being fully breastfed still (she hates bottles), I do not get to have much time to myself.   Last week I invited some of my friends over for a dinner, drinks, desserts, and NickMom date night.

 

It was a no frills, dont wash your hair, dont dress up kind of affair. I served them pot roast with sweet cornbread. Everyone got stuffed on that and then I brought out the Red Velvet Brownies with White Chocolate Buttercream Icing.  I think they all agreed that it was yum.  My friend is going to kill me because I put this pic of her up here.  She thought she looked awful but I think its hilarious.  This is what motherhood is.  Making fun of your friends and taking crack shots. Just because you have less time for your friends doesn’t change how much you love them.

That is why I love the new NickMom.  People just don’t realize that being a parent is hilarious.  It is a series of unfortunate events (forgive me Lemony Snickett) that you can look back on and laugh.  Sure, they aren’t funny when they happen usually but it is pretty great when you not only laugh about that time when your toddler smeared poop on the cat but you are actually trying to pretend like that is ‘better’ than your friend and their toddler horror story of the week.  Moms need to sit back and relax and enjoy letting off steam. Especially while watching the new Instant Mom, starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict. She is thrown into motherhood with no experience and her trials with her stepchildren are great to watch.  Mostly because it is fun to watch other moms go through what you go through everyday. I am lucky I can watch it On Demand because we spent so long playing around in the kitchen, we missed half the episode when it aired.

I was sent a great bag filled with fun stuff for me to use in my NickMom party.  I think my guests like the shaker the most. I was also sent some awesome drink recipes. I like the Mama’s Bottle of Tea the most.  It is in the first picture and I probably had too many but still.  I never get to drink.  I had to pump and dump and that isnt fun watching your breast milk go down the drain.

It is so hard to get four girls to look at the camera at the same time.  I swear it was like we were trying to mess up all the pics.

You notice the two redheads are the ones laughing? Yeah.  That is because redheads are hilarious.  Hilariously dorky that is.

I think my friend Courtney looks like she wants some wine but too bad Ms. Preggo.   We are such slobs.  We are eating chips right out of the bag in the livingroom like I get on to the kids all the time about.
