Family friendly fun in Las Vegas
When we think about Las Vegas, usually we conjure up images of adult-only activity, from drinking in bars to gambling away our hard-earned cash or running away to get married. Contrary to popular belief however, the City of Sin does actually boast a huge variety of family friendly activities, many of which do not have to be harmful to your back pocket. If you are anything like me, you save up all year for a great vacation and you want to be able to fit as many fun events in as you can!
Whether it’s a cultural show, a rollercoaster or just a fine dining experience, there is plenty of fun to be had in Vegas, and if you still need that extra buzz, you can always play on online casino while the kids are in bed. Here are a few family activities that will make your next vacation unforgettable.
The Forum Shops
While much of the allure of Caesars Palace is the casino itself, it also boasts its very own shopping mall, great for all family members, with everything from designer fashion to sportswear. The centre is an experience in itself if not just for the visuals – it features circular escalators and ceilings designed to look like a bright blue sky. If you have younger children who may frustrate easily, you can also take them to see the Fall of Atlantis Show outside The Cheesecake Factory. This amazing animatronic display is completely free and takes place every hour, featuring booming characters, water and even real life fire.
The Rollercoaster
Over at the New York New York Hotel, you’ll find a whole different kind of entertainment – a rollercoaster which overlooks the entire strip. With the world’s first 180 degree ‘heartline’ twist, this exciting ride isn’t short of thrills, and there’s also an arcade inside for you and your family to chill out after such a terrifying experience. At $14 a ride, it can seem expensive, but you can also buy a $25 unlimited ride pass or a family pass, which are more than worth it.
The Aquarium
Who would have thought that Las Vegas would home an aquarium with 4,000 different fish? The Aquarium at The Silverton Hotel is a great day out for all the family, particularly Disney fans. Anybody who likes The Little Mermaid will love the mermaid show, a free show which takes place every half an hour, while you can catch fish feeds daily at 1.30 and 4.30pm.
Discovery Children’s Museum
Located in the Donald W. Reynolds Discovery Centre, the Discovery Children’s Museum provides three stories of scientific, historical and cultural delights. The 58,000 square foot museum hosts nine themed rooms from a Water World to a Mystery Town, and has one fixed cost of just $12 for children and adults. With so much available, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store.
