Doctor Strange Blu-ray Review #DoctorStrange

I think by now you have realized that my blog will forever be Marvel friendly. That may be putting it mildly since I am more of a fanatic. Doctor Strange is the newest Marvel movie to come out in theaters and I saw it no less than four times. It was probably more but I don’t want to embarrass myself. I was honored when I got a Valentine’s surprise that had everything to do with Doctor Strange recently and it included the Digital HD which I LOVED. I watched it as soon as I could and made my whole family watch it again with me.

From Marvel Studios comes Doctor Strange, the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident renders his hands useless. When traditional medicine fails him, he travels to the remote Kamar-Taj in search of a cure, but instead discovers the mystical arts and becomes a powerful sorcerer battling dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Bring Home The Mystifying, Mind-Bending Journey on Digital HD Feb. 14 and Blu-ray™ Feb. 28.

There is just something about holding a disc in your hand though. The box, the cover art, the joy of all the menus. My husband is a huge videophile. We have a giant 4K tv, we have a sound bar, we have a surround sound system, we have all the video game systems, and a great place for the tv with no glare. Don’t worry he got extremely good deals on all of it thanks to his job and watching deal sites. My point is that Doctor Strange is so beautiful that I had to sit in awe because it would be beautiful on our tv or a car dvd monitor (yes we watched it in the car several times, or rather my kids watched it while I got to listen while driving). It is so visually stunning that it takes your breathe away. Then you get to the acting. Can Benedict Cumberbatch be more talented? Its such a trope in hollywood to have a rich arrogant protagonist lose everything and be humbled. Dr. Steven Strange is not humbled. He learns. He listens. He changes his worldview but everything I have ever read with Doctor Strange shows him still being still being the brilliant, ARROGANT smart-talking dude he always was. And Benedict Cumberbatch played that very well.

OMG the deleted scenes in this blu-ray! I have watched them several times. The Team Thor one was great. I think it was funnier than the first one honestly. My favorite part is the featurettes though. I love seeing how movies are made and how so many talented people come together to weave this extratorinary work. They have one with all the dance and fight choreography that is just lovely. So tireing but lovely. I could never do that. I give props to all those actors and their teachers because wow. And the Marvel Studios Phase 3 Exclusive Look – Get an early peek at Marvel’s spectacular upcoming films, including Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
