Curbing Mindless Snacking with Meta Appetite Control #MetaSnackID

This is a sponsored post for Meta Appetite Control through the She Speaks Blogger Program. All opinions are 100% my own.

As a mom I always say my life is never boring. There is always something going on or somewhere I need to be. That is a lie. I find myself with hours of doing nothing all the time because I am home with my toddler. She will ‘read’ to me on the couch or tell me all about her show she likes. She will sit me at her table and bring me an endless supply of toys. She sometimes will even nap without a fuss and I will often fall asleep trying to put her to sleep. So I am mostly sitting. Sitting and talking. We go on walks when her brother gets home and we play outside but that’s usually after 3 pm. And when all my kids go to bed then I sit my butt at my computer and get my work done. So I spent a majority of every single day sitting down. And the boredom affects my eating habits. I never eat breakfast because I am always so busy getting my 6 year old, 14 year old, and husband out the door and then feeding and dressing my toddler. So it is always like 10 so I munch on something to tide me over till lunch especially if we are watching a movie. At lunch I eat my food and then whatever my toddler doesn’t eat of hers.  Then I ‘sample’ dinner as I am cooking it. I even walk in the kitchen from time to time and just nibble on stuff.

I am a ‘MINDLESS MUNCHER’ according to the PopSugar Quiz I took and I couldn’t agree more. Especially at night after the kids go to bed. I just sit at my computer and munch on stuff. I know I need to stop. Its affecting my health and my weight. Meta Appetite Control, a fiber supplement from the makers of Metamucil, partnered with registered dietitian nutritionist Jessica Fishman Levinson, MS, RDN, CDN, to create these “Snack ID” profiles to help you determine what type of snacker you are. She suggests for the “mindless muncher” that you really experience the food. Smell it, taste it, listen to the sound it makes when you chew. Being fully aware of you eating will help you realize you are just snacking. She also suggests to blend up a Meta Appetite Control smoothie or add two teaspoons to a cold glass of water.

I recently tried out the Meta Appetite Control. I chose the unflavored option but you can get it in Pink Lemonade Quench and Orange Zest as well. I think it has helped my constant munching. I was recently told by my doctor to go on an elimination diet so I thought I would be hungrier than normal but I haven’t been. In fact the addition of the Meta Appetite Control in a fruit smoothie has really kept me going. I use it in water after lunch but I always have it a fruit smoothie for breakfast. I have been adding a cup of spinach or kale to my smoothie as well.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup frozen strawberries (in warmer months I like fresh berries but they are soooo expensive here in January)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut concentrate
  • 1 cup spinach
  • ice cubes, optional to taste
  • 2 teaspoons Meta Appetite Control Unflavored Smoothie Enhancer

So it’s simple and easy. And I have been walking more. Instead of driving down to the bus stop to get my son, my daughter and I walk everyday. We do a couple trips up and down the street while we are waiting for him to really get our exercise on.

I have also started drinking more water. I think it helps to keep yourself accountable if you buy one of those smoothie cups that has the ounces listed on the side. Fill it up and then you know exactly how much water you have drank. I have been using a fitness app to record my water and meals. It shows me how many carbs I eat and how much fiber is in my food. A great way to get the fiber you need is with the super fiber supplement, Meta Appetite Control, which is from Metamucil. It contains the perfect combination of water and fiber to increase your daily intake of both; it helps you feel less hungry with fewer calories; and it works naturally with your body to help suppress your appetite between meals.*

  1. This product sounds great, I don’t think I have heard about this product before , But I am interested in it, I try to keep more to the organic or natural products during dieting.

  2. apparently, i am an “all or nothing nosher” !!!! i don’t know how i feel about this title haha. i do however, tend to oversnack when i do snack and that’s what this tells me.. :((

  3. I am THE ALL-OR-NOTHING NOSHER. Not true at all, I am actually very good about sticking to portion sizes (my husband doesn’t understand how I can eat only two Oreos in a sitting; he is more likely to eat two ROWS of Oreos).

  4. Well it said I am a mindless muncher. Sounds about right. If I get distracted while eating out of a bag, next thing I know it’s all gone. I’ve learned to portion things out into snack baggies, take one bag & that’s it.

  5. This looks like quite a great and delicious method to control hunger and be satisfied at the same time. I thank you so much for the post and sharing it with us.
