Celebrate National Root Beer Float Day

The product, information, and gift card have been provided by A&W so that I could try the product for National Root Beer Float Day and share my thoughts and information about A&W Root Beer. The opinions expressed in this post are my own and do not reflect the opinions of A&W.

I think that root beer floats are the drink of the summer. I can remember making them back when I was very, very young with my parents and even with my grandparents. I used to always think that the foam was the best part of the drink and I was always try to drink mine really fast to get it before the foam receded. I had no idea growing up that there was a such thing as National Root Beer Float Day! That would have been so cool to me.

I know about it now though and I got to celebrate with my family this year. A&W Root Beer was kind enough to send over a lovely care package to my family which included temperature reactive mugs, an ice cream scoop, and some fun straws. My husband’s all time favorite root beer is A&W so he was very excited with our cool new mugs.

Root Beer Float Recipe

1. Get a mug or tall glass
2. Add 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
3. Fill to the top with A&W Root Beer. Gradually allow the foam to rise and then add some more root beer until glass is filled
4. Add whipped cream if desired and a cherry for garnish

Its a great recipe to have some fun with the kids. They all got to make their own and watch how the foam rose. They thought it was great. And A&W has some great Float how to’s on their website including a yummy looking brownie sundae!

And of course everyone has to always put their spin on it. My youngest cried because she couldn’t eat all the cherries but she was happy again when I let her put the cherry on my float. Its the little things but I love having family time as sweet as making root beer floats with my kids after dinner.
