Starting or expanding your family can be a trying and stressful time. You can get to be so focused on conceiving that you forget to relax and let nature take its course. Naturally each and every one of us want to make sure we are doing everything we can to make conception possible and easy, and surprisingly not many folks know what’s possible to give you peace of mind as you and your partner try to conceive. Luckily there are a few completely natural, very simple, and very positive steps you can take to feel like you are optimizing your chances of conceiving without feeling like you’re going overboard.
For me, the thing that gave me the most peace of mind and made me feel like I had a grasp of the process was to chart my cycle. Charting is really easy to do, it only takes a minute or two every day, and you can track your ovulation cycle on any number of apps available for your smart phone. If you have a thermometer, you’re ready to go! You can tell when you ovulate and that gives you a little more surety on your TTC journey. I liked staying in touch with my body’s natural rhythm and it’s so simple and easy to do, it was a natural first step for me.
I also made sure to start taking pre-natal vitamins before getting pregnant. Of course, eating healthy is important, but I felt that starting on pre-natals really gave my body a jump on being ready to get started once I did conceive. It’s a small thing to do but it can have a big impact on you and your pregnancy. And it’s an additional peace of mind, too, to know that you’re doing everything you can to provide for your baby even before you know it’s there!
Keeping stress levels low was also important to me. I’d been led to believe that I’d struggle to conceive naturally and so I wanted to give myself any little advantage I could without going nuts. Staying calm and centered was really helpful to me as I prepared myself for what I *thought* would be a lengthy TTC period- I was ready for a marathon, not a sprint, and part of that was getting my head in the right place. Of course, I ended up with a marathon mindset in a very short sprint, but I was glad I took the time to be mentally and emotionally prepared and peaceful.
Things have changed a lot in the 15+ years since I tried to have a baby. There are lots of new gadgets and products out there that hopeful couples can buy and use. I’m much more of a ‘keep it simple’ kind of gal. I don’t like to get too technical or intrusive when it comes to things like this if I can avoid it. But one new product is exactly the kind of low-intervention but very helpful item I’d have certainly tried back when I was building my family: Astroglide TTC™ .
Astroglide TTC is specifically formulated for couples who are trying to conceive. By supporting fertility with adjusted pH levels, compatible osmolality and a consistency similar to your body’s cervical mucus, Astroglide TTC makes for an ideal environment for sperm survival and motility, making conditions more hospitable to sperm. Traditional lubricants aren’t formulated with conception in mind and may inhibit sperm motility. Astroglide TTC has overcome this problem and has formulated their new lubricant to relieve vaginal dryness while providing highly compatible conditions for sperm, oocytes and embryos as well as allowing sperm to move freely. And Astroglide TTC also contains galactose, which is found naturally in semen, as well as fructose, the main source of energy for sperm.
Astroglide TTC is available in packages of 8 pre-filled disposable applicators that make it easy to coat the inside of the vagina, supplementing natural fluids and enhancing comfort.
