Like most kids I have been in love with Disney movies my whole life. Aladdin has always been above the rest though. I loved the Genie and I loved Iago. I like the underdog kind of movies. Aladdin was a street kid who had nothing. You don’t know his story, he is just a kid on the streets trying to make it. And like some scraps are oft to do, he does it by being cunning and charismatic. Why be a brute when you can trick someone into giving you your way? Why haggle when you can steal? But he didn’t steal too much. Just enough to survive and I can understand that. I grew up extremely poor. Like living on nothing but potatoes during the winter poor. I’ve never lived on the street or stolen from people but I do know what its like to have to be clever to survive. My mom made ends meet whatever way she could. So when Aladdin starts the One Jump song I always joined in singing. And I especially loved when he tricked the Genie into getting out of the cave without actually making a wish. Like practicing Gamesmanship, the art of winning without ACTUALLY cheating. He was never malicious, he never stole more than he needed, and he always helped out other people. I had the VHS when I was a kid. And we have the Aladdin soundtrack cd in my car STILL. I won it from an online giveaway in 2008 I think.
If you have never seen Aladdin, here is a little info on it:
Climb aboard for a magical carpet ride with nonstop laughs, action-packed adventure and Academy Award(R)-winning music that will make your heart soar (1992: Best Music, Original Song, “A Whole New World,” Original Score). Now for the first time ever, a whole new world of Disney’s ALADDIN is revealed in a whole new way on Blu-ray and Digital HD — with never-before-seen bonus! With the help of a hysterically funny, shape-shifting, 10,000-year-old Genie, street-smart commoner Aladdin and clever, confident Princess Jasmine join forces against the evil sorcerer Jafar to put an end to his plans to take over the kingdom
Now Aladdin is out of the vault! I can finally own it again. The Aladdin Diamond Edition blu-ray was immediately watched by the family. I was so happy to share it with my littles who had never seen it. My older son loves it. He claimed the dvd out of the combo pack immediately and took it to his room.

I loved this movie as a kid. Robin Williams just made Genie one of the best animated characters with his humor and warmth.
This was one of my grandson’s favorite movies when he was a very little boy.
I can’t wait to see the outtakes!
