How about some patriotic recipes to kick off your 4th of July? I have some Firecracker Rice Krispies Treats, Patriotic Chocolate Covered Oreos, and now I am sharing some patriotic pretzels which are delicious and red, white, and blue. I have included step by step pictures below the recipe as well as a printable recipe format. You can always PIN THIS RECIPE FOR LATER!
INGREDIENTS
24 large pretzel twists (I used Snyder’s Old Tyme brand)
2 Tablespoons solid shortening
1/2 cup Wilton royal blue chocolate melts
1/2 cup Wilton white chocolate melts
Red, white and blue jimmies and non pariels
White sugar pearls
DIRECTIONS
1. Line 2 cookie sheets with wax paper. Set aside.
2. In a microwave safe bowl, microwave 1 tablespoon shortening for 45 seconds. Add the blue chocolate melts and stir until melted.
3. Spoon the blue melted chocolate over 12 of the pretzels coating each pretzel evenly. Place on cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart from each other.
4. Immediately sprinkle your choice of red, white and blue jimmies and sprinkles and white sugar pearls on the pretzels before the chocolate completely hardens.
5. In a microwave safe bowl, microwave 1 tablespoon shortening for 45 seconds. Add the white chocolate chips/melts and stir until melted.
6. Spoon the white melted chocolate over the remaining pretzels, coating each pretzel evenly. Place on cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart from each other.
7. Immediately sprinkle your choice of red, white and blue jimmies and non pariels on the pretzels before the chocolate completely hardens.
8. Let pretzels “set” on cookie sheets for 30 minutes before serving.
9. ENJOY!!
Store in an airtight container for up to one week.

We love pretzels in our house- especially dipped pretzels! I love that this recipe can be worked in a ton of ways for different holidays and parties. I also think our toddler daughter will have a blast making these with us.
