The Liv and Maddie cast includes Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie), Joey Bragg (Joey Rooney), Tenzing Norgay Trainor (Parker Rooney), Kali Rocha (Karen Rooney), and Benjamin King (Pete Rooney). I had the pleasure of meeting them when I was in LA for the #AntManEvent. Being the mom of a teenage boy I already knew that Dove Cameron played both Liv and Maddie. I am sure some people probably do think its twins but she is super amazing and is able to portray both very different characters. We got to watch them rehearse a scene for a few minutes and then they came up to talk to us. If you havent heard of Liv and Maddie, then here is a little premise.
“Liv, a popular television star whose show has just finished its run, and Maddie, an outstanding student and school basketball star whose popularity is on the rise until Liv makes a return to their high school.”
My favorite character is Joey though. He is funny and smart. He is just like that in real life as well. He dominated the interview we did with them. He talked about their dynamic together with us. “We know everybody. We’ve done three seasons so for the most part… you get to know these people. Coming here is like a safety zone. This feels like home base.” He also accidentally stabbed Dove in the face during day 2 of filming so they had to shut down the whole week that week.
We asked Dove Cameron did she audition to be twins. “So, super, super short version of a very long story, Liv and Maddie wasn’t originally Liv And Maddie, I only played one character. Then, when they brought us back after nine months of testing, they sort of informed all of us that it was now a twin show. I didn’t audition for either character so when the opportunity presented itself, our director, Andy Fickman, was sort of like, “Who do you want these girls to be?” and so I just sort of split my own personality down the middle and then turned it up to extreme Disney style.
It does make for a great show though. And you would think that Dove Cameron would get her characters confused but we asked and Kali (who plays her mom on the show) said that Dove never does but that the other actors do all the time. Like they will be doing a scene and forget which one Dove is playing. Kali Rocha said they had chills the first time they saw a scene where Dove was seemingly talking to herself. The very first read through was weird but great because of it.
Joey Bragg said we needed to push the Liv and Maddie hashtag so that there will be a 4th season. He was really great at coming up with hashtags and was very funny to chat with. He was amazingly articulate. I mean he had a really long perfect answer to everything we said. Kali Rocha was hilarious as well. We mentioned we had a question for the younger people and she jumped in to answer. She kept us on our toes laughing. Dove Cameron mentioned that it was everyones goal to grow up and be on the Disney Channel and she said yes that was hers as well and look at her now. It was very funny.
Here’s a sneak peek at “Liv and Maddie” episode “SPARF-a-Rooney” featuring Andy Grammer! The episode premieres Sunday Aug 16th at 9pm EST. “Maddie and Diggie try to “out-fun” each other at a local music festival as Liv tries to help Andie get over her breakup.”
