Recently I won a blogger giveaway from fellow blogger Elena at Luna Savings (recently moved to A Time Out for Mommy). It was for the KY Intimacy Experiment. I was a little scared about this experiment because as many of you if you have read my recent posts, sex and intimacy have been very thin on the ground since the birth of our son 8 months ago. In fact, I can count on both hands the number of times we have been intimate with each other and still have some fingers. However, I was definitely willing to give it a go. Anything that could help my aversion to intimacy from trying my marriage to the breaking point, I will definitely give a try!
I received my pack in the mail a few days ago. I was so excited to open it but I couldn’t seem to get the box out of the shipping box. Turns out it was upside down and in my hurry to get it out, I spilled all the contents into the bottom of the shipping box. It contained a boatload of goodies for my hubby and I to try out. The thing I found the cutest was the little rubber duckies! Picture to come tomorrow when I find my camera cord.
Now I am sure everyone is familiar with the KY brand and it probably brings to mind some naughty things. In fact the first thing I think about when someone says KY is their feminine arousal gel because someone gave me some for my bachelorette party. It was quite embarrassing to pull it out of the gift bag. I am a bit shy. However, the KY Intimacy Experiment is about more than great sex. It is about revamping your relationship and connecting on new levels, both emotionally and sexually. Its about reiginiting the spark that brought you together in the first place.
KY INTIMACY EXPERIMENT DAY #1-The Love Nest
(Mom and Dad do not read below!!!)
Despite how worried I was to start the experiment, Day 1 was really easy. The pamphlet given made the observation that hotel sex is good sex. And the reason for that is that you leave the responsible, working, parent life behind you for a little while. There aren’t clothes to put up or dishes to be done. That picture isn’t always mocking you by being just a little to the left.
Some suggestions they made:
- Access the mess-My husband and I stood in the doorway and decided what needed to leave our bedroom for good. We put up several loads of laundry and made the bed. We also took all the kid stuff out of our room. This included the pack n play our baby sleeps in. He was going to sleep in his own room tonight!
- Eliminate the negative-We got to work removing all the clutter on our dresser. Stuff that had been there since we moved in was either stored or tossed. We even managed to organize our shared cabinet a little bit.
- Make it sexier– We didn’t do much to make our bedroom more sexy. We dimmed the lights so that they only shone on the bed. We put our softest sheets on the bed and pulled the comforter down. They suggested candles and music but the music would’ve woken the baby and candles sometimes upset my sinuses 😉
- Get yourself a ‘toy box’– This was one thing we have been meaning to do for awhile. In a long relationship, things that are not for kids eyes just seem to add up especially since I was chosen for a Durex party by HouseParty.com a year or so ago and I had a passion party (Slumber Party) for my bachelorette party in 2009.
The night exercise was a little more R-rated so I wont say much about it. They simply said to ‘enjoy the spoils of your labor and christen your new love nest with a night of lovemaking.’ They also said to have sex like it’s the first time again. My husband and I took things slow and easy. We didn’t rush through even though we knew there could be a chance the baby would wake up in the other room. We kissed more and looked into each other’s eyes more. It was probably the best sex we have had in a long long time. And the best thing about it is I really felt like it was making love instead of sex just for the sake of sex.
