Christmas Tree Cookie Recipe
Serves: 3 dozen
  • Cookie Ingredients:
  • 3 C flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 C soft unsalted butter
  • 1 C granulated sugar
  • 1 eggs
  • Cookie Cutter: Circle, Christmas tree, and mini reindeer
  • Icing Ingredients:
  • 4 egg whites
  • 2 C powder sugar
  • ½ tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  1. Cookie Directions:
  2. - Cream the soft butter with the sugar until the combination is smooth not grainy to the touch in a mixing bowl.
  3. -Add eggs...Continue to mix.
  4. -Add the vanilla.. Continue mixing.
  5. -Sift the four, baking soda, and salt together.
  6. -Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture.
  7. -Continue mixing to make sure all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  8. -Make the dough into a ball, wrap it in cling wrap completely covering the entire dough ball.
  9. -Put in the refrigerator for about 6 hours or overnight. Check to see if the dough is firm.
  10. -Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  11. -Pull the cookie dough out of the refrigerator and sit it out to soften up a bit.
  12. - Put flour out on the cutting board, rub flour on the rolling pin, and work some flour into
  13. the batter. (if needed).
  14. -Roll the dough out on the cutting board and using the cookie cutter begin to make your cookies.
  15. -Line the cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  16. -Using a metal spatula move the cut cookies to the parchment lined cookiesheet.
  17. -Bake at 325 degrees for 8 minutes. Check to see if the cookies are thoroughly baked.
  18. -Take the cookies off of the cookie sheet and put on a wire rack to cool completely.
  19. (About 10 minutes).
  20. Icing Directions:
  21. -Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl mixing on medium speed for 4 minutes. (except your food coloring)
  22. -If icing is not stiff enough add ¼ C powder sugar.
  23. -Divide the icing into 4 equal bowls.
  24. -The first bowl of icing add brown to make light brown.
  25. -The second bowl of icing, add several drops of brown.
  26. -The third bowl of icing remains white.
  27. -The fourth bowl, add a few drops of green colored gel
  28. -Using 4 number #2 tips fitted onto piping bags, scoop some icing into each bag.
  29. -Thin out the green icing left in the bowl using a tsp of water
  30. -pipe an edge using the green icing around the tree.
  31. -Fill in with the thinner green icing.
  32. -Let dry for 2-3 hours.
  33. -Decorate the reindeer according to the picture.
  34. -Let dry for another 3 hours
  35. -Place christmas tree circle cookie and hold it there for 35 minutes
  36. -Place the reindeer on the cookie.
  37. -Let dry for 2 hours.
