When my son was younger he loved chocolate milk but so did my husband. I would always come home to someone crying that the other person drank the rest of the chocolate milk. After my middle child started drinking milk as well it became a free for all. I think I pay some salaries at the milk companies honestly. TruMoo is a more recently addition to the fighting. My son liked the taste at a friend’s house so I researched it and found out it it starts with pure fresh low fat milk from your trusted dairy, contains no artificial growth hormones, and no HFCS. So yeah. I bought some. And then some more. And now they have a great new fall themed flavor, TruMoo Orange Scream, that I am dying to try but my stores keep selling out so fast. So instead of bringing you the delicious Orange Scream Pudding Pumpkins I was going to make, here is a Chocolate Mini Ghost Cupcakes Recipe.
So my children made these. Really. I made the cupcakes and they made the ghosts and they had a BLAST! You should see my kitchen table though, mini chocolate chips everywhere. Everywhere! It was worth it. They got to have fun after dinner and then tomorrow they can have some delicious cupcakes. I ate two tonight. To test them. You can also just make your favorite box mix and then make the ghosts. I wanted to use as many dishes as possible though so I made the cupcakes myself. They are very chocolately and rich so just perfect for my household.
Ingredients
– Cupcakes
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter (softened)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup TruMoo Chocolate milk
– Ghosts
Whipped cream (or marshmallow fluff)
mini chocolate chips
regular size milk chocolate chips
Directions for cupcakes:
Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt in small bowl.
Beat sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl.
Gradually beat in flour mixture alternately with milk.
Fill each cupcake liner 2/3 full.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.
Refrigerate cupcakes for an hour before adding ghosts or they will melt. Seriously. See these poor melted guys?
Directions for ghosts:
Fill a piping bag with whipped cream (I used Cool Whip). Cut a corner of the bag and then pipe the cream onto the cupcakes.
Pull them up into peaks like ghosts.
Add a regular sized chocolate chip (insert flat edge to the front) for the mouth and two mini chocolate chips for the eyes.
