I know everyone is ready for fall for lots of reasons. One of my favorite ones is because television gets good again! All of our favorite shows start new seasons and we learned about and went backstage for several of the new ABC shows when I was in LA last month. Starting tonight, Tuesday October 11, The Middle kicks off the evening at 8/7c followed by the new show American Housewife at 8:30/7:30c, then catch Fresh Off the Boat at 9/8c, and The Real O’Neals at 9:30/8:30c! A whole lineup of funny and its all on ABC!
“Forget about athletes, movie stars and politicians. Parents are the real heroes—but we think Frankie Heck, must be some kind of superhero. A loving wife and mother of three, she’s middle class in the middle of the country and is rapidly approaching middle age.” “The Middle” stars Patricia Heaton as Frankie, Neil Flynn as Mike, Charlie McDermott as Axl, Eden Sher as Sue and Atticus Shaffer as Brick.”
We got to walk backstage on The Middle set during our #ABCTVEvent and Atticus Shaffer immediately came and introduced himself to all of us. He went down the line of 25 bloggers and talked to each of us. It was very nice. We came in while they were filming so we had to be really quiet. And I will say that they had tons of food backstage. In fact everywhere we have went with Disney and ABC there has always been a ton of food. They were busy so we went out to tour the wardrobe bus which was very awesome. It was HUGE! They had so much stuff in there but it was all organized so well.
Even the jewelry was organized.
They have to keep up with every single outfit, earring, button, etc because of consistency. If they have a flashback at any point in the future then they have to get it completely right down to the top button being undone or their hair being windswept.
Each section is organized by the person wearing it. All of the Heck’s get their own huge section. I liked Mike Heck’s the most because it was just a wall of plaid. Plaid is kind of an inside joke for Disney bloggers because of our fearless leader loving it. And my husband’s closet looks quite like this. Most of his work shirts (business casual) are some form of plaid and long-sleeved.
We got to go back inside and tour some more of the set. It looks like a really lived in house and they always pay so much attention to details. Its kind of amazing.
And we took photos in their living room. It kind of looked a lot like my grandmother’s living room to be honest. Kind of cluttered but loving if you know what I mean.
And they were kind enough to take photos with us. Neil Flynn had to leave for a reading right before it was my group’s turn to take photos so I didnt get one with him but I did get to meet him and talk to him for a minute. He is VERY tall which makes Patricia Heaton look even smaller. She is so sweet. She even ‘mommed’ us when we were walking around outside the set and told us all to be careful because it was so hot and that we needed to make sure to be drinking water. It was great. I have loved her for years. She is such a great acttress.
TONIGHT ON THE MIDDLE
“On the season premiere episode, “The Core Group,” Frankie and Mike are excited to meet April (Greer Grammer) – the love of Axl’s life – but discover that love may indeed be blind when April reveals a quirky personality trait. Meanwhile, after getting bit by the acting bug while working at Dollywood over the summer, Sue wants to change her major to theater, and Brick is starting high school and making it his mission to try for a fresh start and not be considered one of the weird kids.”
Tuesday nights just got funnier! ABC boasts a big night of comedy on Tuesday. Who is ready to laugh?
The Middle 8 p.m., ABC
American Housewife 8:30 p.m., ABC
Fresh Off the Boat 9 p.m., ABC
The Real O’Neals at 9:30 p.m., ABC
I am so jealous! You had an amazing time! That wardrobe is so cool!
Wow it must be so fun to go behind the scenes! In college I used to work in the costume making for the theatre department, quite a bit of drama behind the scenes!
Looks like a fun time! 🙂
How fun! I would have enjoyed this. I found The Middle on Hallmark as reruns…now I don’t miss it anywhere I can find it!
