Afternoon Snacks with Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches #CBias #TysonGoodness

As many of you know, we are currently in the middle of trying to refinance our house. It has been a long, long road so far. Having two cats and two kids has practically destroyed our house so we have been super cleaning for weeks now. Organizing boxes in the basement, repainting the porch, moving bookshelves and appliances to scrub baseboards, etc. You get the point. Hard, tiring stuff. Last week though my husband randomly turned to me in the middle of going through old baby clothes and suggested that we take the kids to the park. I was all for the idea but I knew I had to go shopping at Walmart afterwards. I sat down with Little M who was doing his homework and we made a list of what we needed. It was actually quite a short list since usually I need a ton of things but I am trying to boost my budget this month and just use stuff out of my pantry. So we made our list and off we went.

My boys and I at the park having fun!

We ran through and got the baby food and the few other odds and ends that were on my list and then I thought to myself that I needed something to feed these crazy boys when I got home. I spent a little time in the holiday clearance aisle but it was pretty much cleaned out. My husband hates when we dally at the store so I had to get something that wouldn’t require that much work or ingredients. And Little M needed to make a recipe as a ‘project’ his grandmother gave him.

This is how it looked when we walked in.

So while I was thinking of what to get, I grabbed some cat food that I received free coupons for from Fancy Feast for a holiday promotion. I also grabbed the very last Renuzit Fresh Accents they had. I had two free coupons a friend gave me and I could never find it any of my stores. It was on clearance for $1.00 so I guess that’s why they only had one left. I decided to go with Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches. They are delicious, the kids like them, and I had an idea of what Little M could make for his project. The only thing is, they are hard to find at the store. They are not with the other Tyson products and they are not in the frozen snacks. I usually find them at my store in front of the meat area in the freezers running down the middle of the aisle, not in the stand up freezers.

Every time we have had the Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches, we have loved them! The last time we bought them, there was a promotion going on for Tyson. If you bought two of the Mini Chicken Sandwiches and sent in your receipt and form, they would send you a $5 Walmart gift card. Sadly, it was over on January 13th but it was a great promotion! I sent my stuff off a few weeks ago so hopefully I will get my Walmart gift card soon. I will probably just spend mine on more chicken sandwiches. They even have Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches with Cheddar Cheese. I love cheese. I love the fact that they aren’t high in sugar like most afternoon snacks. They are just right for popping in the microwave and serving them up. I still don’t let Little M use the microwave (I know, I am overprotective) but its still the easiest meal I ever have to make for him.

We finally got out of the store and it looked like it was going to storm bad. It seriously looked like the sky would fall any minute so we loaded up quickly and went home. I was very thankful that we went to the park first before we went to the store. Then we put up the baby food that was staying at our house and put the other stuff in a bag by the door to go to daycare. It was only 2 pm or so by then so I told Little M that we could make his project. We decided to make honey mustard to go on our Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches. It is a great easy recipe to make especially with kids helping you. We didn’t need much so we decided to make enough to go on all the sandwiches.

Homemade Honey Mustard

Ingredients:
1/2 cup mayo (we used fat free)
1 Tbsp prepared mustard (we used Dijon)
1 Tbsp honey
a dash of Worcestershire sauce
And some people add a dash of lemon juice. I don’t but my friend does and hers is good

Whisk all the ingredients in a bowl and voila, honey mustard! I have been told by my husband and nephew that its restaurant quality and delicious so I guess I am doing something right. Matthew enjoyed being able to help me in the kitchen and he called his Mawmaw right away to tell her he completed his project. Well, he ate first and then called. He was so excited that he helped me ‘cook’ something he wanted to tell everyone about it. It’s a super easy recipe to make and since you make it with stuff that is already in your house, you are saving money!

I got these Iron Man bowls on clearance last year

Then we all took naps. Ha! I wish. My older son and husband took a nap while I watched the extremely overtired, cranky baby. I am happy that I have a perfect afternoon snack for my children. No fuss, no mess, and it tastes great. I bought several boxes while I at Walmart for the days my son doesnt go to after school care. Not all WalMart’s carry these new sandwiches – visit Tysongoodness.com to find a location nearest you!
